Friendship Fridays, Volume II.

As it stands, I have five of my best friends getting married this year. One was married in January, the next three are within a month’s time from one another, and the last is way out in October. I’m thrilled to be surrounded by love, even if I’m unsure of how I’m going to commit to attending every ceremony. Just a few days ago, I booked a two-way flight to Ohio and back for the end of the month. I’m the Maid of Honor for my best friend Diana’s wedding, and will be hosting her bridal shower. It’s been a blast planning everything with her family, who are all so excited to see her marry the love of her life, Tom. I’m grateful to be a part of this happy union.

Right now, moving back to Ohio permanently isn’t feasible. While I have yet to start seeking a new position, I’m not ready to make the big step. I’m still regaining strength, and a move would be too strenuous on me. I will be refunding those that offered to help, and am starting to think about my next career move out in Phoenix.

Speaking of happy unions, I have a love story to share! A few Sundays ago, I was walking a friend’s dog around the complex, and saw a sweet little old man sitting outside wearing a ‘World War II’ hat. Upon thanking him for his service, I asked him how he was doing. Allowing me to record our conversation, he told me a beautiful story of love at first sight. Seven years ago, this man lost the love of his life, Antoinette, whom he was married to for 64 years. While he misses her terribly, he has fond memories of their life together.  Since that day, I visit John often. We share tales of heartache, love, life and happiness. At 90 years old, John is a vivacious storyteller and I’m glad to call him my friend. He makes the best coffee and is an absolute delight to be around. As long as he’s my neighbor, it is going to be my mission to make his final days here as pleasant as possible. I hope you enjoy our conversation as much as I enjoyed having it with him!
